The still little-known catalog of games available for free on Netflix is constantly growing. Find out how to access it.
Although Netflix is one of the most expensive SVOD services on the market (between 5.99 and 19.99 euros per month), it is also the only provider that has expanded its offering to include video games at no additional cost. No matter whether smartphone or tablet, whether Android or iOS product, all subscribers can benefit from it. We’ll explain everything to you.
Hundreds of premium games available
It has been several years since Netflix introduced its video games section in its applications. The problem is that the American company doesn’t seem to have much interest in promoting it. It’s all the more a shame that the selection is good, even very good, with some cult independent games (Dead Cells, Spiritfarer, Into the Breach, etc.), but also exclusive titles.
In fact, Netflix is investing in the video game sector by becoming the owner of studios such as Night School Studio, responsible for the narrative thriller Oxenfree and its sequel Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, available exclusively on Netflix. Other titles, such as the eco-management game Terra Nil, are also (temporarily) offered exclusively on the platform.
Of course, the service also aims to expand the universe of some of its most popular shows. “Lady’s Gambit,” “Stranger Things,” or even “Love is Blind” each have a mobile video game that’s available for free if you’re a Netflix subscriber.
Netflix games can only be accessed through the application on a smartphone or tablet. After launching and selecting your profile, you will need to browse the home page until you find a carousel titled “Mobile Games.” Now all you have to do is go through the list.
Once a title catches your eye, tap on it and select “Install Game.” This will automatically prompt you to download and install it. When you launch it for the first time, you will be asked to connect to your Netflix account to validate the license.
However, keep in mind that the games offered by Netflix, such as those in the Xbox Game Pass catalog, are subject to disappearance. Depending on popularity or simply because the rental period has expired, it may disappear from the service.
Despite all this, games accessible through Netflix represent a solid alternative to services like Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass. This is even more true if you already have a subscription.
