Some features of LG’s next OLED TVs have been leaked, with nice improvements in brightness, but not only that!

LG is one of the most influential TV brands. Not only because its models are among the best on the market every year, but also because LG Display supplies the Oled panels used by most of its competitors.
When LG embraces a new trend, all eyes are obviously on its screens. And according to rumors, this will happen in early 2024.
Ultra-bright TVs for gaming
The key point with Oled is the brightness. In recent years, manufacturers have increased their ingenuity to address the main problem with this screen technology: the lack of brightness compared to an LCD panel.
According to information from the IT House website, LG’s G4 series would incorporate a new generation of MLA technology to significantly improve the brightness of its screens. Thus, the peak brightness could reach 3000 nits. For comparison: The LG OLED G3 achieves up to 2000 nits on paper (in Vivid mode) and we measured 1430 cd/m² in Filmmaker mode.

Another interesting innovation: the LG C4 (and therefore a priori also the LG G4, since it is more advanced) would be equipped with a panel with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Traditionally, TVs go up to 120Hz to adapt to the HDMI 2.1 standard found on current generation consoles. The switch to 144 Hz is therefore aimed more at PC gamers.
Finally, as usual, LG should improve its processing processor and switch from Alpha 9 Gen 6 to Alpha 10. The improvement would come in the processing of the NPU and especially in the recognition of objects and scenes to adjust the image on the fly. The quality of HDR management and upscaling could also be affected.
These are just rumors for now, but we should learn more about this new generation of TVs at CES 2024 next January.
