As soon as the last episode was released, information about the sequel surfaced on the Internet. It would continue the famous Black Ops saga.
With the release of Modern Warfare III on November 10th, the ongoing Call of Duty trilogy has just come to an end. Even though the criticism has been particularly harsh, especially for the disappointing single player mode, and multiplayer players have noted many problems and bugs and removed certain maps, the success still seems to be there.
Activision has assured that the results of its latest release have surpassed those of Modern Warfare II in terms of hours spent in single-player and multiplayer and, above all, the triumph for the return of the long-awaited Zombie mode. All without official numbers.
Return to Baghdad
One has to assume that fans of the franchise don’t have Chimène’s eyes for this latest installment with its mixed results. In fact, the first consistent leaks, including on the websites Insider Gaming or Windows Central, point to the future of the famous FPS, which will once again return to its glorious past, starting with iconic maps.
The next part is set during the Gulf War and should contain specific elements of the Black Ops game series. The title, developed by the Treyarch studio, has been in the works for four years, making it the longest development period in the saga.
COD in CIA mode
We’ll have to wait until the end of next year to verify this information, but it could reignite player interest. Black Ops was particularly appreciated, with a cocktail of older arsenals and classic weapons, CIA and special forces-style gadgets, but also more sophisticated and nuanced single-player scenarios.
The means implemented, if confirmed, could give Call of Duty the opportunity to restore its image and would declare the status of a game worthy of a DLC for the latest Modern Warfare III. Additionally, the richer historical context, with conspiracies to the point of paranoia, had made Black Ops one of the best-selling games of the PS3/Xbox 360 generation. A feat that Activision would obviously like to see again.
