The OnePlus 12 will set a new record, far ahead of Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi – Frandroid

OnePlus continues to present the upcoming launch of its OnePlus 12, this time with the impressive brightness of its screen, capable of surpassing in this area both the iPhone 15 Pro and the Galaxy S23 Ultra or the Xiaomi Redmi K70.

We told you about it at the end of October, now it’s official, the OnePlus 12 is said to have record brightness. To test its next flagship a little more, OnePlus has actually confirmed that the device will benefit from a stunning maximum luminance, well above what the most optimistic rumors had predicted just a few weeks ago.

According to the Chinese manufacturer, the OnePlus 12 would actually be able to reach the threshold of 4500 cd/m² at peak brightness. As a reminder: Some sources currently speak of a maximum of 2600 cd/m², or even 2500 cd/m². If the number presented by OnePlus is correct – and to be sure we will of course have to wait for the first independent tests – then we would be dealing with the brightest smartphone on the market.

Brightness: OnePlus could hit hard, very hard

As WCCFTech points out, most high-end smartphone manufacturers aim for a maximum luminance between 1800 and 2200 cd/m² for their devices. The iPhone 15 Pro performs better with a maximum peak brightness of up to 2,500 cd/m², while its competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, has around 1,750 cd/m². The OnePlus 12’s display would have a clear advantage in this area… even if the competition in China appears to be getting stronger. Xiaomi, for example, has just announced its Redmi K70, which the brand claims can reach 4000 cd/m2.

For comparison, the screen of OnePlus’ next high-end smartphone would be none other than a 6.84-inch AMOLED panel supplied by the Chinese BOE. However, we must remember that smartphone manufacturers’ marketing claims are sometimes misleading and rarely reflect the typical use of a cell phone.

In this case, for example, it is enough that a group of pixels is able to maintain a maximum brightness of 4500 cd/m² for a few seconds for the brand to have the right to highlight this value in advertising. Of course, we still have to wait a while until we know exactly what to expect when using the OnePlus 12 in real life.
