Olymel moves its headquarters to Boucherville

July 1, 2024 by istri

After more than 30 years in Saint-Hyacinthe, the Olymel company announced on Wednesday the regrouping of all its administrative and sales activities in Boucherville, where it will establish its headquarters in the coming months.

The Canadian leader in the pork and poultry production, processing and marketing industries also said it will keep its factories in the Saint-Hyacinthe region and that no job losses are expected.

With its new strategic center in Boucherville, Olymel intends to centralize a large part of its warehousing and distribution activities with the aim of “strengthening its business model and improving its performance”.

“[Ce centre] will enable significant money and time savings, increase efficiency and promote better management of all files by bringing teams closer together,” said Yanick Gervais, President and CEO of Olymel.

The new center and headquarters will be located at 1620 Boulevard de Montarville in Boucherville, where extensive renovation work will be carried out. The company already has a location nearby, on Rue Eiffel.

This move, which will affect 195 people, will span a period of several months from summer 2024 to early 2026, Olymel estimates.

Keep in mind that the company closed several of its factories during the year, particularly for economic reasons. Last February, the closure of factories in Blainville and Laval resulted in the loss of 170 jobs. In April 2023, the Vallée-Jonction facilities suffered the same fate and more than 900 people lost their jobs. Recently, the Princeville plant closed and nearly 300 workers lost their livelihoods.
