The year 2023 is coming to an end and it will have been very special for video games. And as we approach the end of the year, the entire Xboxygen team wishes you a Merry Christmas!
2023, a contrasting year for video games
After a 2022 marked by console shortages, 2023 was marked by available stock coupled with an incredible number of very good games. Unfortunately, the exceptional year of 2023 will also have been one of numerous layoffs in the industry.
It is indeed a dark year coming to an end for game developers. Just two days ago, Tinybuild announced the dismissal of the entire team from the studio Versus Evil, which it had taken over two years earlier and which was responsible for, among other things, The Banner Saga franchise. While we can remember those who lost their jobs this year, we can only hope for a much better 2024 for the job market in the video game industry.
For the entire Xboxygen team, the year has also been crazy in more ways than one with viewership records like never before, but we will have the opportunity to get back to that soon. In the meantime, we would like to say a big THANK YOU for your unwavering support over the years and even more so during these busy times.
We wish you happy holidays and lots of joy in being with your loved ones for the next few days. And no matter what gift you unwrap, no matter what brand your console is or what difficulty level you will play, we wish you lots of joy and fun with all our hearts!
