They are far from following the usual path, and this has both positive and negative consequences. Fortnite parents had to weigh their new plans after releasing three new video games in just two days. We use the word “video games” carefully because that’s exactly what the company wanted to claim. Whether LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing or Fornite Festival. All new Epic Games titles released in the last week are here to stay are treated as independent projects by the developer (even if they are accessible via Fortnite).

The worst part is that the three new games were released in just three days, right after Eminem’s big season-ending concert. Enough to lose your mind, especially with a Battle Pass that now offers even more diverse quests to complete. But once the surprise wears off, we’ll quickly appreciate these new modes. Also, fans are worried: Are these modes time-limited?
LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival are independent projects
Fortnite developers have made an official clarification via social media.
“We’ve seen some discussion about our newly released games and some people are worried they won’t stick around. To clarify, these are brand new games, not limited-time modes. No fear. LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and The Fortnite Festival will remain, with regular updates.”
Epic Games will likely support games based on the level of performance they provide and community activity over time. The best entry-level game to date was LEGO Fortnite, which held its own with over a million concurrent users across all platforms. For this title, updates will begin in the first months of 2024. Rocket Racing wasn’t unworthy either (new content coming in 2024, to be determined) or Fortnite Festival (updates to be announced).
It is expected that the company will pursue similar projects in the future. The intention seems to be to make Fortnite a “hub” with a variety of video games available to users and remaining accessible over extended periods of time. A self-contained “metaverse” with which Epic Games aims to have a much longer life cycle than other titles with similar characteristics. Maybe Battle Royale will die one day, but the idea is that by then there will be many more ways to replace it.
